Growing up, Bishop and Pike had very different lives. Pike's dad was the first black police commissioner and the son grew up always trying to live up to expectations, while Bishop grew up looking for a father figure as he was passed around foster homes, moving from school to school. Bulletproof will put their friendship to the test for the first time. Bulletproof follows two cops, Bishop and Pike, as they chase down hardened criminals in London's East End. On the surface Bishop and Pike have a lot in common they are cool, smart, unapologetically street-wise and tough; they share a deep, fraternal relationship - and are always there for each other. However, they come from very different backgrounds and their personal motivations and emotional lives outside the police force differ as a result: Pike is an aspirational family man, the son of a decorated police officer who's determined to follow in his father's footsteps, but not be in his shadow. Bishop grew up in care homes and on the streets, and never knew his father. Despite these differences Bishop and Pike are bonded by the same moral code and work brilliantly well together even when the chemistry between them looks set to explode. Two black guys playing cops and robbers in a souped up BMW. Wow, what an absolute pile of…. can these guy's be any more self absorbed in real life that they think this is what the viewing audience are craving? My suggestion would be to shorten each episode to 5 mins (including adverts) take out all of the unnecessary swear words and violence and re schedule this somewhere between this morning and loose women. Hopefullly then no-one else would have to be subjected to this utter tripe. I see these guys being interviewed on Sunday Brunch, playing the race card yet again, saying they couldn't have made a cop drama with 2 black cops 7 or 8 years ago because of inherit racism in the film / tv industry. Funny how i remember several very entertaining and very successful black actors playing the lead as cops as far back as the 60's and 70's. Sydney Poitier, Morgan Freeman, Samuel L Jackson, Idris Elba to name a few. The only difference being, they were good actors with good scripts and absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with their race or gender. I loved this series and hope they make a second one. In the days of many US cop TV programmes it makes a change to have a new UK series that is up to date. It may be a popcorn programme but sometimes that's what we want. The main characters are believable because of the interaction between the two leads and it harks back to the days of the Sweeney. How can you not enjoy it. One of the best things on TV from the UK in recent times. Loved it and have been recommending it to anyone who will listen.
